Purpose
The research seminar aims to present research findings within non-pharmacological rehabilitation research and Parkinson’s disease. The seminar provides Scandinavian researchers with the opportunity to share their research, exchange knowledge and establish networks. Furthermore, the seminar aims to outline recommendations and inspiration for further development in Parkinson’s rehabilitation. 

Intended audience
Rehabilitation researchers from Scandinavia, including the Faroe Islands and Greenland, with an interest in Parkinson’s disease. Both junior and senior researchers are welcome. 

Organizers
The Danish Knowledge and Competence Center for Rehabilitation of People with Parkinson’s Disease. The working group behind the seminar consists of Jette Thuesen – Associate Professor Ph.D. (REHPA/SDU), Merete Tonnesen – Anthropologist, Ph.D. (DEFACTUM), Martin Langeskov Christensen – Associate Professor Ph.D. (Regionshospitalet Viborg/AU), Frederik Bonde Jensen – Ph.D. student (AU). 

Cost and Transport
Participation is free of charge, and travel expenses within Denmark will be reimbursed after the research seminar upon submission of documentation.

Programme
The programme for the day is still under development but is expected to include: 

  • Opening remarks and introduction to the framwork of the day 
  • Keynote presentation with Nienke de Vries, Associate Professor, University of Groningen, The Netherlands – Nienke de Vries
  • Sessions in which rehabilitation researchers, based on submitted abstracts, will have the opportunity to present and discuss their research either orally or via poster 
  • Breaks with time allocated for networking and professional discussions 

The programme will be updated continuously, and the final programme for the research seminar will be available in mid-March 2027. 


SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS

Criteria
Abstracts based on both published and unpublished research are welcome.
However, abstracts based on published results more than two years old will generally not be accepted, as the research seminar aims to focus on ongoing and recently completed projects. 

The total abstract must not exceed 350 words, using Calibri font, size 11. The full name, title, and affiliation of all authors must appear at the top of the abstract, along with contact information for the corresponding author. This information is not included in the total word count. 

 Content Requirements 

  • Abstracts for published research must include  introduction/background, aim/hypothesis(es), methods, results, and conclusion (perspectives). 
  • Abstracts for unpublished research, including preliminary results, must include introduction/background, aim/hypothesis(es), methods, preliminary results, and conclusion (perspectives).
  • Abstracts for upcoming projects must include  introduction/background, aim/hypothesis(es), study design/methodology, perspectives, and a timeline for the project as an appendix.

Evaluation of Abstracts
The assessment panel’s review of the submitted abstracts will be completed by 5 February 2027, after which all corresponding authors will be notified during week 7.
